Investment Banking Summer Analyst, Bank of Ireland

Summers 2023 & 2025 · Paris Closed
Finance AI / ML Internship

A second internship with Bank of Ireland's Leveraged Acquisitions Finance team in Paris: longer, deeper, and still gone in a blink.

This was my second internship with Bank of Ireland in Paris, this time working in their Leveraged Acquisitions Finance offices. Building on my earlier experience, the longer stint gave me a much deeper look into the fast-paced world of acquisition financing, yet it still felt too short, since the time passed incredibly quickly.

Across the two summers I prepared due diligence briefs on 12 tech and industrial acquisition targets, supported deal-pipeline prioritization and client pitches, and engineered Python-based tools automating risk metrics and sourcing workflows that cut analyst task time by about 30%.

I supported analysts and associates with due diligence processes and helped prepare concise reports summarizing key findings and recommendations. Through that work I sharpened my technical and analytical skills, and learned how to distill large amounts of complex information into clear, actionable insight, something that sits at the heart of good financial decision-making.

On the side, I kept exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance financial workflows. I researched the potential of large language model-powered tools to streamline information gathering and analysis, and came away with a clearer sense of both their possibilities and their limits in real-world financial settings. It strengthened my conviction that technology will play a transformative role in the industry, but only when paired with the judgment and expertise of experienced professionals.

Above all, what made the experience so rewarding was the team itself. I greatly enjoyed working with and learning from talented, generous, and supportive colleagues, whose guidance turned every task into an opportunity to grow. I left grateful for the trust and responsibility I was given, and inspired to keep building on those lessons.
